From Jordan's last letter

We went to the mission office here in Ukraine yesterday to wait for Jordan's Christmas call, as requested, and we had a nice visit with Addison and Kenz and their families via skype while we waited. We finally went home when nothing happened, and then just as we were going to bed Jordan called us on our cell phone at midnight. We had a nice visit, though most of the time he kept saying, "What?" It sounded like there were a lot of others using the phones in the telephone center where he was, and we could hear them almost as well as we could hear him.

Here's an excerpt from Jordan's December 21st letter:

Hey guys. Well it's another Pday and the mission's goin good. Elder Pedroche and I fasted from lunch on Saturday until lunch on Sunday because we decided we need a miracle. The work in this sector has been progressing really slow, so that's why we fasted. It was cool because we didn't have to walk much on Saturday because we did all teaching. Then, on Sunday we brought two inactive members to church with us. One hasn't been to church for 8 years and the other for 20. It was way awesome because it was a Christmas program and they said they enjoyed it. Also all the members in our ward really just accepted them in and greeted them and stuff. So that was a miracle. Then last night we had a family night with a family who are partially active and we had a pretty good lesson about the birth of Christ and then we made rootbeer floats, which they really enjoyed. Following that we went and taught a lesson about the Book of Mormon and the restoration to 3 investigators. It was nice because they were all from Peru, so it was a lot easier to understand them than the Chilenos, and I was able to teach more of the lesson instead of Elder Pedroche doing almost all of it. We gave them a Book of Mormon at the end and they said they would read it, so we're stoked. So pretty much ever since we started our fast, the work has been going a lot better. Hopefully we'll end up baptizing these investigators. We haven't had any baptisms here in this sector for a while, so I'm hoping we can change that soon.

Hey, wanna know what's cool? I've been a missionary for about 4 months now. It's starting to go fast. Wanna know another cool thing? The other day, Elder Pedroche and I did service at a house and dug holes and trenches for this lady's plants in her backyard and guess what? I got to use a steel bar. I hadn't used one of those in about a year and a half, but I used one and it felt pretty good. I've missed that thing, heheh.

I still haven't gotten my Christmas package yet, but I might be getting it this Wednesday when our mail comes.

Ok, here's the address for our pension if you wanna look it up on google earth:
Julieta 3935 Pedro Aguirre cerda Santiago Chile

(End of excerpt)

We tried the above address, and it indicates a house right off a main boulevard not far from downtown Santiago.

Mission map

This is the map that the mission sent with President Jone's welcome letter. It shows nine stakes within the mission. Jordan tells us that the mission also extends to the coast.

Here is Jordan's full MTC district with President and Sister Jones, the day they arrived in Chile.

Week 1: From the MTC

> Hey everybody! Well I'm officially a missionary now and I've been here for 4 days now. It's gone pretty well here. I have a pretty cool companion who is pretty quiet and a cool companionship that bunks with us in our dorm. We all bet along great. On my first day, I got here and I had to do some special checking in because they all thought that I was a Ukrainian, baha! When I finally got through, I had to go to the health center because i needed to get a TB test and take some pills that would help get any unwanted bugs that may have gotten into my stomach from Ukraine out. So finally, after much tribulation, I finally got done and went to go meet my companion and district.
> So pretty much every day we've just been learning the language, and studying the gospel. I think that I'm going to try and join the choir here on sunday because CJ said that he would do that when he gets here so that we can interact with each other while we're here. It's gonna be pretty awesome. Ok, I found out that I can only check my email once a week and I can only be on for a half hour, so don't send me too much stuff, or else i won't be able to reply to it all. Also, you're gonna have to send me the address for the mission home because I don't have it. Here's my address:

> So there it is. Hey could you do me a flavor? Could you send that address to my friends? Because I never found it out until I got here, heheh. If you would do that, it would be much appreciated. Well, I love you all and hope all is well! Good luck in all your lives! :)
